Adult ADHD Assessment Cost in India: What to Ask

Understand ADHD screening versus assessment, what a quoted fee covers, report and follow-up questions, and how to choose an appropriate appointment.

Ask what the assessment includes before comparing its price. A screening questionnaire, a doctor’s first consultation and a fuller diagnostic assessment can be different services. An inexpensive questionnaire score is not a complete diagnosis, and a consultation fee does not automatically include every later appointment or report.

What are you trying to book?

Write down whether you want an initial discussion, assessment advice, a report for a particular purpose, or follow-up for an existing diagnosis. Share that purpose with the professional before buying a service. Ask whether adult ADHD assessment is within their actual scope, rather than relying on the word “ADHD” in a directory label.

Screening and diagnosis are different

ADHD assessment considers a person’s history and functioning; a self-report score alone cannot establish it. Other concerns can overlap with attention difficulties. NIMH’s adult ADHD information explains why a thoughtful evaluation matters.

You can bring examples from work, home or education, previous reports and a list of current medicines. Ask the clinician what information is useful and whether they want earlier records. Do not delay asking for help because your records are incomplete.

Questions to ask about the quoted fee

  • Is this the price of a first consultation or the whole stated assessment service?
  • Which interviews, questionnaires and additional appointments are included?
  • Is a written report included, and what is it intended for?
  • Could another medical consultation be recommended separately?
  • What do follow-ups cost, and how are they arranged?

This guide does not quote an invented national range. Compare the current service description and exact provider fee. A more expensive service is not automatically a better fit, and the lowest starting price may describe a different service.

Check qualifications and report requirements

If you need documentation for work, education or another organisation, ask that organisation what it requires. Then ask the professional whether their service can meet those requirements. A booking platform cannot promise that every organisation will accept a report.

Medication and ongoing support

Assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis or prescription. Medication decisions belong to an appropriately qualified prescriber. Ask about options for ongoing support, practical goals and how care could be coordinated with your permission.

Support groups serve a different purpose

Peer support is different from assessment or treatment. Read the existing ADHD support-groups guide and check the group’s current arrangements before joining. This article does not activate an assessment programme or enrol anyone in one.
